Our great-grandmothers, Holocaust survivors, instilled within us a mission to ensure that the stories of the Holocaust are never forgotten because these stories are the cornerstone of ensuring “never again”. While this goal has always been central to our identity, recent events and experiences have crystalised the urgency of imparting our great-grandmother’s wisdom to our generation. After traveling through Poland last month and witnessing the atrocities committed against Jewish people, we were compelled to take immediate action to make sure what we witnessed never happens again.

The HMCTE Next Generation Youth Advisory Board will support the initiatives of the Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education. Fueled by a desire to combat antisemitism and other forms of identity-based hatred, we will provide learning opportunities, support, community building, outreach and Holocaust Remembrance on both high school and college campuses.

• Ensure Holocaust memory is preserved on campuses through event programming, education, and community-wide commemoration

• Forge strategic partnerships on college campuses, connect with students of diverse backgrounds, open dialogues, and work together to achieve goals of tolerance and fighting hatred of all kinds

• Create a safe space for Jewish students to express and celebrate Jewish identity and culture

• Support HMCTE in its goals by assisting with Museum events, fundraising, and programming when available

• Remind college-aged students of the relevance of the Holocaust to both American culture and to the present day

We are looking for the next generation of leaders committed to preserving Holocaust memory. If you are a motivated high school senior or college/university student, please consider applying to join our board. We will have a minimum of four Zoom meetings per year, and we expect all board members to play an active role in bringing our ideas to fruition.
