For Tolerance and Education
The Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education (HMCTE) is a state-of-the-art museum, educational center and gift shop located conveniently on the campus of Rockland Community College in the beautiful Hudson Valley.
The Museum, its exhibits and its educational programming allow visitors to learn from the past to approach the challenges of today with empathy, moral courage, kindness and strength. The Museum relies on its artifacts, exhibits, historical narrative, innovative digital programming, robust video anthologies, survivor testimonies and extensive research to create an environment for visitors that is thought-provoking and empowering.
Through its work, HMCTE is able to foster humanity through education.

Visiting the Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education provides a unique opportunity for personal growth, education, and reflection on the past’s relevance to the present. The Museum creates an informed and empathetic perspective on history, society, and the importance of actively working toward a more just and compassionate world.
The Museum is uniquely positioned within the Hudson Valley. With its significant artifact collection and thought-provoking exhibits related to Holocaust history, HMCTE offers visitors an important historical perspective that can be easily translated to facing today’s modern issues with tolerance and resolve.
Because of HMCTE’s 40+ years of experience, its educational perspective on tragic history and its ability to comfortably approach challenging topics, its team of staff educators is highly professional and experienced. The Museum works closely with school districts, teachers, large group coordinators and community organizations to tailor a Museum experience that fits an individual or groups’ specific needs.
When is HMCTE Open
HMCTE is open Monday through Thursday and Sundays by appointment only. The Museum is closed for national all national and Jewish holidays. With more than 10,000 student visitors each year, peak period is October through May.
Where Are We Located?
HMCTE is located on the vibrant campus of Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY. The campus is located one mile off the NY State thruway giving it very “easy on/off” access. The campus serves a very diverse population and services 200,000 people a year through its tradeshows, exhibitions and cultural programs. Bus service is available from New York City’s Port Authority Bus Terminal. HMCTE is located in the Hudson Valley, which is known throughout the world for its beautiful landscapes and robust history.

Tours are Self-Guided. Suggested donation of $10 per visitor.
(recommended for adults and children 12+)
Group Museum Tours
Group Tours
Groups of 10 or more can request a guided tour. Suggested donation of $10 per visitor. Can be paired with HMCTE Programming.
HMCTE Programming
HMCTE offers programming on Moral Courage, Hate and Propaganda, and Social Justice. Each 45-minute program takes place in HMCTE’s state-of-the-art educational facility. Working in small groups with our staff educators, visitors are encouraged to explore and learn from our exhibits and recorded testimonies. Only by learning from the past can we build a better future.
